What is NATO of Illinois?

NATO of Illinois is a statewide trade organization representing

movie theatre owners and operators in Illinois. We are

affiliated with the National Association of Theatre Owners -

the largest exhibition trade organization in the world,

representing over 33,000 movie screens in all 50 states, and

additional cinemas in 96 countries worldwide. NATO of Illinois

membership includes over 25 circuits, from national chains to

independents, operating over 1300 screens in Illinois.

Our most important reason for existence is to provide each

other with communication and support in protecting our

industry from the effects of adverse legislation. As a state

organization, we focus primarily on issues specific to Illinois.

As new legislation is introduced each year, it is more

important than ever to keep abreast of the issues and protect

our industry. The most effective method of making our voice

heard in Illinois government is through the efforts of theatre

owners and managers speaking directly to their legislators.

NATO of Illinois plays an important role in coordinating this

grassroots effort and preparing members with supporting

information in order to discuss the issues more effectively.

We also work closely with other business and retail groups to

maximize our impact.
